The Nuggets have a lot of young talent on their roster, but they also have veterans like Jamal Murray and Paul Millsap. In 2021, the Nuggets will look to make a playoff run with some of these younger players.
The denver nuggets analysis is a player poised for a breakout season in 2021. He has shown some promise and will likely be an important part of the team next year.
Every NBA season, a player emerges from his shell and earns the respect and adoration of his peers, pundits, and fans. This player either becomes an All-Star or has a run of outstanding performances. One player on the Denver Nuggets is set to have a breakthrough season in 2021-22. Michael Porter Jr. is who you’re looking for.
One might say that his breakthrough came in the 2020 NBA Playoffs, when he was a key part of the Nuggets’ back-to-back 3-1 comebacks. In basketball’s largest stage, Michael Malone fielded MPJ 23.7 minutes per game, which was unexpected. What was perhaps more unexpected was Porter Jr.’s ability to stay cool and confident while on the court. In Game 5 of the Western Semifinals against the Los Angeles Clippers, he made a game-winning 3-pointer. Jamal Murray and Nikola Jokic were the Nuggets’ franchise stars before to this shot. Porter Jr. joined the discussion after that shot.
His playoff performance was just the beginning of his rise to superstardom. Malone was correct to put MPJ in the starting lineup in 2020-21, and he did not disappoint. He increased his scoring and rebounding averages to 19.0 points and 7.3 rebounds per game, respectively, from 9.3 and 4.7, respectively. He also drew attention for shooting 44.5 percent from beyond the arc on 6.3 tries per game, which raised some concerns. His shooting skills and stature were even likened to Kevin Durant by some fans.
Michael Porter Jr. demonstrated once again why he is poised to become a big headache for his opponents in his second postseason appearance. He scored 17.4 points per game while shooting 47.4% from the field and 39.7% from beyond the arc. It was obvious that if you hand over the minutes to MPJ, he would deliver. His efforts were rewarded with a third-place finish in the Most Improved Player poll. The Nuggets’ playoff run in 2021 was unfortunately cut short. It was mostly due to the absence of Jamal Murray. They couldn’t withstand the Phoenix Suns’ scorching heat without him.
Some may view this as a model for the Nuggets’ NBA season in 2021-22. Will the Nuggets be able to compete in the Western Conference without Murray? While it’s natural to be concerned, Nuggets supporters must stay optimistic about the team’s prospects. Despite the fact that Murray will be sidelined for the most of the season, Porter will be with them throughout.
In fact, Malone would almost certainly devise certain plays that were expressly intended to take use of Porter’s talents. Because his offensive arsenal includes a lot of outside shooting, we may see some two-man plays with him and Jokic. MPJ has also shown his ability to maneuver without the ball. These are two easy points with someone like Jokic on the court. Malone has a broad range of options to choose from because Porter has a vast offensive arsenal.

Let’s not forget that MPJ just agreed to a huge five-year contract for a maximum of $207 million. This is a clear indication that the front office had seen all the 23-year-old needed to see in his first three years in the league. He’s the team’s third star, and that deal will undoubtedly serve as further incentive for him to achieve higher heights. Porter is capable of averaging 23-25 points and 10 rebounds each game. A spot on the All-Star team or even a trophy for Most Improved Player would be nice.
The denver nuggets sports is a team that has been in the NBA since 1967. They have had many great players, but none as good as the player poised for a breakout season in 2021.
