When the Bulls traded Jimmy Butler to the Minnesota Timberwolves, it left a hole in Chicago that needed filling. Caruso was brought from Italy by Fred Hoiberg and has been worth every penny of his 2 year, $8 million dollar contract. He talks about why he thinks basketball will always be popular no matter how many people play football or other sports.,
The “Alex Caruso Bulls” is a story about how the NBA player ended up in Chicago. The article goes on to talk about his first game with the team and what it was like playing for them.

Despite the fact that Alex Caruso has only played 10 games for the Chicago Bulls, it’s difficult not to consider him a revelation. So far this season, the fifth-year guard has set career highs in assists (3.9 per game), steals (2.3 — third-best in the NBA), and minutes (27.9) for the Bulls.
Beyond his raw numbers, Caruso has served as the trash guy that every strong team needs. While Zach LaVine and DeMar DeRozan make headlines for their big-time scoring, Caruso is the one who locks down opponents, dives for loose balls, and generally makes opponents’ lives difficult.
Along the way, he’s quickly become a fan favorite in the Windy City.
The early success of Caruso with the Bulls raises the question: how did the LA Lakers let him slip away? Even league execs are baffled by what happened, and Lakers GM Rob Pelinka is looking worse by the day for allowing it all to happen; his club is presently mired in defensive mediocrity and has a terrible shortage of backcourt depth.
Caruso came up on what happened during his free agency on JJ Redick’s The Old Man and the Three podcast on November 10, and his narrative doesn’t paint the Lake Show in a good light.
Caruso was snubbed by the Lakers.

According to Caruso, his free agency didn’t exactly get off to a flying start this summer. The Texas A&M product was forced to play the waiting game as the league’s best talents knew their market before the fireworks even started.
“Up until 6 p.m. central, when I was at my parents’ home, I didn’t hear anything from any team, even the Lakers.” Caruso informed Redick, “And then they phoned, and the Lakers made their offer.” “I wasn’t going to take it since I knew I’d be able to obtain much more money from another club.”
He went on to say that after struggling to secure a position in the league, he wasn’t going to take any deal now that he had some negotiating power.
Despite the fact that Caruso didn’t express precisely what Pelinka and Co. had given him to stay in Los Angeles, Redick was able to get some financial information from him. Caruso was instructed to blink once if the figure was under $15 million over two years, and twice if it was above.
“That was once, by the way,” Caruso replied confidently after blinking once.

Caruso’s contribution to the table was recognized by the Bulls.
Caruso had assumed that if the Bulls signed former No. 2 overall selection Lonzo Ball, Chicago would be off the table as a possible landing point financially. Nonetheless, he picked up the phone and was pleased by what he heard from the Bulls.
“I got on the phone with [Bulls GM Arturas Karnisovas] and [head coach] Billy [Donovan], and I felt they struck the nail on the head with the way they were simply talking about how they wanted to play and how they viewed me as a player,” Caruso said.
It was clear to him that the Bulls were aware of his abilities. But they also made it obvious that what he brought to the table might be a key component of their winning formula.
“I felt everything they said was correct, and I thought that’s what I bring to the table, and that’s how I can help the club win, and I believe that’s the way this team wants to go,” he added. “I assumed there was a demand for what I had.”
Caruso, on the other hand, remained faithful to the Lakers, with whom he had won an NBA title in 2020. So he presented Pelinka with the Bulls’ offer and asked if he could match it, which he couldn’t. Caruso even offered the Lakers the chance to sign him for somewhat less than the original offer, but they declined.
He went on to sign a four-year, $37 million contract with the Bulls.
