Ukraine’s Ambassador to Australia Vasyl Myroshnychenko says US President Joe Biden’s recent visit to Ukraine was “crucial” and demonstrates “American courage”.
During a recent unannounced visit to Kyiv, President Biden pledged further support as the one year anniversary since Russia launched its invasion nears.
“Seeing American President [sic] visit Ukraine at this time, also at the time when Russians have started another assault on the country, was very important,” Mr Myroshnychenko told Sky News Australia.
“Very important for Ukraine, for the Ukrainian people – but also, it’s very important for America and for Europe to see that transatlantic unity.
“The visit of the President Biden to Poland and then making a trip to Ukraine was huge.”
Mr Myroshnychenko said President Biden’s visit was “very symbolic” and “very strong”.
“I understand it must have been not easy from a security standpoint of view to organise,” he said.
“But I think it demonstrates American courage.”
